myVisual
A Perceptual Visual Complexity Evaluation Tool for Interior Environment & Circulations
Visual complexity influences perception, preference, and behavior in relation to multiple contexts of visual stimuli. Examples include consumer marketing strategies, graphic interface experiments, clinical trials, and other multidisciplinary fields to understand how certain design qualities can influence sensory sensitivities. However, there is a lack of complexity evaluation tools in the architectural industry which hinders the potential for designers to predict occupant’s satisfaction level. We propose myVisual, a visual complexity evaluation tool that assess spatial feature properties, quantity of features, and arrangement of features. The aim for the machine learning model is not only to predict complexity values for existing spaces, but also be used to effectively evaluate renderings of proposed designs.
